In-rooms pre-operative consultation

Usually our anaesthetists conduct a pre-operative consultation with you on the day of the procedure, immediately prior to the procedure.  This is an important conversation where you are able to provide details of any medication you are currently taking, any allergies, and medical history.

However, if you have significant medical problems and/or you are undergoing major procedures you may be requested by the anaesthetist to attend a pre-anaesthetic assessment in our rooms prior to the day of your procedure.

In this instance, you will be contacted by our secretarial staff to set up an appointment.  You are requested to bring with you a list of current medications and the results of any relevant medical investigations.

There is a small charge for the pre-operative assessment which is predominantly covered by Medicare.
